On May 9, 2026, Apostolic Prefecture of Battambang joyfully held the opening ceremony of the Bishop Enrique Figaredo (Tep Chandpiseth) Football Cup 2026 (Bishop Cup 2026). The event was presided over by Bishop Enrique Figaredo, Bishop of the Apostolic Prefecture of Battambang, and attended by priests, brothers, sisters, the Bishop Cup 2026 football committee, many children, as well as numerous male and female athletes.
During the event, the Bishop gave a message encouraging all players to compete in a spirit of friendship, creating happiness and joy together through sports. He urged everyone to support one another, play football with good sportsmanship, show respect, and share love with each other.
It should also be noted that the Bishop Enrique Figaredo Football Cup 2026 includes:
13 men’s teams
7 women’s teams
8 children’s teams under the age of 13
The participating teams come from various Catholic communities, centers within the Battambang Diocese, and partner organizations working with the Battambang Catholic community.
The purpose of this football tournament is to celebrate the 26th anniversary of Father Enrique Figaredo’s appointment as Bishop of the Apostolic Prefecture of Battambang.
