The Feast of Saint Ignatius of Loyola
Priest and Founder of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits)
On 31 July 2026, the Feast of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, priest and founder of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), was celebrated with great solemnity.
The celebration was presided over by Cardinal Hollerich from Luxembourg. Among those in attendance were Msgr. Enrique Figaredo, Prefect of Battambang, Bishop Tibo from France, Fr. Ouchang, Superior of the Society of Jesus in Cambodia, as well as many priests, religious brothers and sisters, and Catholic faithful who came from near and far to participate in the celebration.
In his homily, the bishop highlighted three important lessons from the life of Saint Ignatius of Loyola that we are called to follow:
Love God above all things and be willing to sacrifice everything for Him.
Persevere through hardships. Saint Ignatius endured many difficulties and was left with a permanent disability as a result of war.
See obstacles as opportunities for conversion. The challenges we encounter can become opportunities for personal transformation and spiritual growth.
